Contactless card payment
-
What is "contactless" payment?
All our new bank cards are equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. This means that your card and the payment terminal can communicate remotely. You no longer need to insert your card into the terminal. Cards and payment terminals equipped with NFC can be recognised through this logo representing waves.
-
How can I be sure that the amount will not be deducted from my account twice?
After your payment, a beep and a light confirm that everything is in order and that the payment terminal is deactivated. Even if your bank card remains close to the terminal, the amount cannot be debited from your account a second time.
-
Is contactless payment really secure?
Contactless payment uses the same secure network as a traditional bank card, thanks to a secure NFC chip. Each payment also generates a unique code that cannot be reused. In order to pay contactlessly, your bank card must be within a few centimetres of the payment terminal.
For even more security, payment without a PIN is limited to 50 euros. And once you have accumulated purchases for a total of EUR 100, you must insert your card into the payment terminal and enter your PIN. Only then will you be able to start shopping again without a PIN.
